Perissa |
It is next to Perivolos, situated in the shadow of the imposing Mesa Vouno, which separates it from Kamari. Perissa used to be a holiday destination for the residents of the island and had fish taverns from the old days. It grew after the 1956 earthquakes when it started being densely populated. There are beach bars, taverns, a water park, a diving center, hotels, rooms to let etc. |
Perissa and Perivolos are twin resorts located along 3km of endless picturesque black beach. The beach is conspicuous by its sparkling azure waters and is among the most beautiful beaches on the whole of Santorini with plenty of water sports, beach volleyball and a small water park to keep the whole family entertained. Along the beach front this is where you will find a majority of restaurants, bars, souvenir shops. The beach bars in Perivolos can get very busy in July and August especially in the “daytime club scene”. The mountain behind Perissa is where you will find Ancient Thira which you can get there by walking and following the small path that will lead you to the top. Two churches worth seeing are the Holy Cross and St Irene.
